LinkedIn: career breaks

In the midst of the global pandemic, LinkedIn created a new feature designed to destigmatize career gaps and show they are just as important and valuable as your other professional experience. To launch the update, we used real LinkedIn members who stepped away from their careers to focus on other life priorities like full-time parenting, caregiving, or mental health.

When videos went live, over 103k members indicated a career break on their profile within the first month, and it spurred a +27% increase in new career breaks added. The creative exceeded benchmarks with over 2.8M impressions, over 98% positive sentiment, and was the top organically-viewed and engaged video created by LinkedIn of all time.

The video was awarded on the 2022 Communication Arts Advertising Annual shortlist.
